You Are Invited! A Sunset Gala for Parkinson’s Research
by Santa Clarita Magazine | Sep 29, 2022 | Community
Please join Nancy Dee Horak at her beautiful home in Valencia for a spectacular private event which promises to be a night to remember.
“HELLOooo … BROADWAY!”, a ‘Parkinson’s Fundraising’ project is an historic chronological Revue of Broadway Musicals throughout the years and how they impacted the growth of NYC, why it became known as the ‘Great White Way’…and today, the ‘Big Apple’!
Michael J. Fox is actually slated in the Revue’s script to fill the role of the narrator and NYC Tour Guide’. No, he will NOT take the audience “Back to the Future”… but instead, on an exhilarating adventure ‘Back-in-Time’ to the 1900’s to experience the explosion of Broadway in NYC – via Doc’s ‘time machine’ … the Delorean! The venture spans the time period from the early 1920’s ‘Ziegfeld Follies’ to 2018’s American Musical… “Hamilton”!
Aside from creating an entertainment feature for the public to enjoy, Nancy wanted to provide a Parkinson’s Disease awareness aspect for the project. Throughout the Revue, the audience will observe one of the character creations, Mary Jones, experiencing Parkinson’s symptoms that are causing her concerns.
Aside from raising funds in hope of helping fund a cure for Parkinson’s… Nancy, an individual of 74 years of age, is dealing with the obstacles of Parkinson’s, her intent is to serve as an ‘Advocate’ for people… whether they are stricken with the challenges of a disease/condition or not… to continue to pursue their dream while they are still capable of doing so!
The ‘Gala’ is scheduled for Saturday eve on October 15, and will be catered by ‘Larsen’s Steakhouse’ of Valencia. Guests will be provided with both outdoor and inside seating permitting them to enjoy ‘live’ entertainment with a panoramic view! The dining offers a formal 5-course ‘sit-down’ dinner. The event will commence at 5:30 pm with a social cocktail hour, and wrap at 10pm with dancing to a ‘live’ band. The fundraising aspects will include both a ‘Live’ and ‘Silent’ auction, raffles and door prizes. A beautiful antique Princess Grand Piano is available as part of the ‘Live’ auction. The evening includes a Tribute to Parkinson’s patient ‘Alf Clausen’, who was the Music Composer for the TV series “The Simpsons” for 27 years. Our production team includes such amazingly talented people as: 12-time Grammy Award nominated music composer and director, Shawn Clement; as an additional delight, Broadway’s own, Grace Fields will be coming in from NYC to present the Music Revue‘s premiere of the brand new original theme song… “Hello Broadway”. General admission tickets standing at high top tables is $75, for the full dinner experience, tickets are $125. Sponsorships are still available. To purchase tickets on-line visit www.brownpapertickets.com.
